The Invisible Cheerleader By Sabrina M. Filipek Don

She was the invisible cheerleader

She came to every practice, She did what she was told
She cheered at all the games, Go go go team go
She cheered because she loved it, She did everything herself
But she was just invisible, Just her and no one else
There were some other cheerleaders, And they could all be seen
And they all had some friends, She did not think they were mean
Sometimes she tried to talk to them, And they just walked away
It was easy to ignore her, She did not know what to say
She could not always explain herself, Maybe they did not know what she meant
And they did not want to involve her, So away from her they went
At halftime they would get up, To go and have a snack
No one ever asked her to go, She was sitting alone when they came back
Maybe they did not see her, Maybe they did not care
Or maybe they could not hear her voice, Like she was not even there
But she just kept on cheering, She always tried her best
Even if it was hard to learn the cheers, She tried to focus and be like the rest
But sometimes she made noises, Or was humming to herself
Or was looking out the window, Or was focusing on something else
She tried to just act typical, She tried to stay plugged in
Sometimes she was thinking about the game, And if the team would win
So she might not have been looking, Or did not hurry and respond
And she tried to be like other cheerleaders, But if she was unplugged they were gone.
If she would try to talk to them, They would hurry and walk away
Or move back when she was near them, She knew that was not ok
She might have been invisible, But she knew she was there
Even if they did not notice, She still loved to cheer
